Machine Learning for Smart Manufacturing of Lithium-ion Batteries

18th April 2022 @ 7:30 pm 9:00 pm

Mona Faraji-Niri, Research Fellow, University of Warwick

Lithium-ion batteries are the key component of many portable devices in our daily lives, they play a
significant role in electrification of transportation systems such as electric vehicles, e-bikes, and e-
scooters. The manufacturing of Lithium-ion batteries particularly for electric vehicles is very time and
resource consuming due to the large number of parameters involved in each step of the manufacturing
process. Mona, who is an Assistant Professor in WMG, University of Warwick will cover the details of
the battery manufacturing processes in her presentation and address some of the current
challenges. She’ll show how an in-depth understanding of manufacturing parameters obtained via AI
can help reducing the production time, cost, and carbon footprint.
